Robert Blackburn Workshop

Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (RBPMW) is a co-operative printmaking workspace that provides professional-quality printmaking facilities to artists and printmakers of every skill level. They seek to improve the overall quality of fine art printmaking by providing low cost, unfettered access to printers, equipment, and education.  Plowshares Media, MoMA, and RBPMW partnered for an illuminating seven video series that both introduces viewers and museum goers to three major printmaking techniques: woodcut/relief, intaglio, and lithography and provides details on the process of each technique.

Working over several days with RBPMW Director Phil Sanders and MoMA Education Department staff, we were able to capture the minute technical details, textures, processes, and results of these printmaking techniques.

The series was originally created as a companion to the MoMA exhibition on German Expressionism, it has since been used as an online education series to concisely and visually explain the three printmaking techniques to diverse audiences of educators, artists, and students.
